Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Coupe used engine inline-6 from the 300 S saloon, as well as the transmission and suspension settings from that model. The engine was mounted at an angle, unlike the 300 S, to produce a low front nose. Two big vents were built to keep the air moving outwardly and help with engine compartment cooling.
