The Sameesh Creations Store

Namskar! I am Arti Harish Bhange and I run a very small start-up called Sameesh Creations. I come from a humble background and I reside in a very small town located in Marathwada (Maharashtra). Out here the options for women to make a career are very limited.

I used to make handmade crafts in my spare time and I used to give them as gifts on birthdays and family events. My husband runs a garage and it was all okay till lockdown. In the lockdown, our garage business was affected and we ran into financial difficulties. Therefore I started selling my handmade craft items locally to support my family. Now I stand with my husband and I am able to support my family financially.

We make products with a special type of fabric called Khun that is local to our Marathwada region. All our products are made from 100% eco-friendly materials.

Pure Khun (or Khana) and Ilkal fabrics are the culturally very significant Maharashtra and Karnataka. Khun (often misspelled and anglicized to “Khan”), is a beautiful, lightweight fabric that comes in combinations and innumerable designs, motifs, and patterns. Traditionally preferred by women in North Karnataka and Maharashtra, this cotton-silk pure handwoven fabric was used to stitch a blouse to be paired with Ilkal sarees from the same region.
